Dressing After Weight Gain

    • Join me in a toast to two of the most beautiful words I’ve ever heard: mucus & BENIGN! • I got the official word today about my biopsy and am so incredibly relieved (though I still have questions). • The glass from my dear friend @quilting_fairy says “every hour is happy hour” and those are not mere words but a reminder to choose my attitude. (I’m not always good at it as, eh hem, you may have noticed, but I try.) • My $1 tee from @kcmcharity says “My peace I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled. John 14:22” and I’m basically just going to wear it forever and ever amen. • Every word comment thought prayer and echo of love has carried me through this very stressful season and I am so grateful. ❤️ xoxo Nicole

    • This morning, on my way to the hospital, I listened to a song sent by my friend Teresa - "It is Well" by Bethel music. Then, when I got to the hospital, the one other patient there so early was wearing a t-shirt that said "WELL". Then, another family came in the waiting room and their daughter was wearing a Kutless "It is well" t-shirt. * Okay, I got it God. "Well" became my word before anything started. Not that I felt it meant a well result but that all would be well despite anything. * Last night, I prayed for just one sympathetic medical person, someone who would acknowledge the brokenness of this system in some way. The first nurse in the pre-op area was just that, right down to when she said, "Well I can vote and I will vote for you." * My doc (couldn't really describe him as "hot" despite my insta-story wishes, sorry Dr. S) said my CT scans were promising. Then after the surgery while I was still out, he explained to my husband that the lump seemed to be filled with mucus (one of the worst words ever and TMI, apologies) but that we won't know for sure until we get the biopsy results. * All in all, this is THE BEST outcome I could hope for and I need to acknowledge first of all my good good God - which BTW I would do even if this was the exact opposite news. God of all comforts, God of peace that surpasses understanding, sovereign and faithful - even when I am scared. Next I need to thank all y'all who have prayed and offered your support. It means so much to me, especially knowing that so many have come from their own battles of much greater magnitude and with strength, grace and perseverance that is humbling and inspiring. * I have more thoughts about all this for another day but just felt I should share this great news and just dwell with it until I know more. * xoxo Nicole
    • AS PER USUAL, my friend @ycwife and I were *the only* ones dressed up for the @drafthouse Clueless movie party - in 💯 thrifted pieces, ‘natch. We had a great time and heck yes I ate the truffle oil popcorn despite having throat surgery tomorrow because they can darn well put up with it for what it’s costing me. So there. 😙 I wanted to post this to serve as a reminder, no matter what happens tomorrow, whether I have cancer or not: life is full of opportunities for fun, and friends & relationships are what make this life worth fighting for. Anyway, they don’t call me Spirited for nothing and in the absence of wine it’s all coming out as ATTITUDE, so if I meet you tomorrow Cancer, you better watch out.
    • I wanted to post something that would depict strength and faith today, but honestly, I’m not feeling it. I remain scared and in addition, I just learned I am about to incur a huge debt to find out whether I have cancer because of the way our insurance and deductible work, which I didn’t fully understand before now. So I am flat out mad at the US health care for putting this incredible stress on people like me who are already stressed. I’m going into debt to pay for health care... This is wrong. So ima need several million dollars to pay for my care and for every other person in my situation and then ima need some power to change this system. Pretty please. • I know, neither is possible. I can’t even get a credit card because I have no US credit. I have zero power. My prayer today is that I would understand what the heck I’m doing here. Just a little hint. Pretty please. • Enough. I’m going to the thrift store.
