You might think that, coming off my annual review of how much I thrifted in my 4th year of this adventure, I might, er, slow down a bit. If so, you might be thinking wrong! August was full of thrifting – I took advantage of my higher budget and, er, even splurged a bit. 😀 Here’s a run down of what I added to my closet this month…
Cynthia Rowley light knit sweater for $6Zara black sweater FREE at the clothing swap hosted by Life Preloved at Lucid Lifestyle. I liked this staple piece but haven’t decided if it is too short on me… stay tuned!Lida Baday blazer FREE at the same clothing swap, from the closet of Blue Collar Red Lipstick! It’s a little snug but I don’t care because it’s stretchy and I heart Lida Baday.Yoga jeans FREE at the clothing swap – my first pair! This is as close to workout gear as I get.I took my pieces that didn’t get snatched up at the swap to Plato’s Closet for consignment and had enough $$ to get a few more “free” pieces, like this Zara red leopard print top – hitting on a fall trend!New-with-tags black draw-string pants, also free at Plato’s! My daughter said, they look like pajama pants. Exactly, Dear, exactly. I’ll be wearing them to work thank you very much!I know I’m supposed to have straps or laces, according to *somebody*, but I thought these Cole Haan flats might be practical once I graduate to slip-ons! I liked the metallic detailing and texture.I, eh-hem, like bracelets and thought this one would add a different shape to my arm parties, and it was also free with my Plato’s consignment!!I also like pants that accept me as I am, like these Gap chambray draw-string pants, $11 new-with-tags.Why all the pants when I’m #afraidofpants?! Because these were ALSO new-with-tags JBRANDs!!
I scored these for $21 which is pricey for thrift but they’re called “Blueberry” so I had to.More pants, because I finally found a pair of black ankle crops with pockets for $4.20.MORE because these were light wash, which I’ve been looking for, and they were super comfy and only $2.50!! I did make one little alteration… There was quite a bit of fraying around the distressed areas which just seemed, er, bushy and er, unkempt. So I trimmed them up. 😀Pre-trim inaugural wearing!Before you start thinking Duggar, this $7 denim skirt was VERY similar to one I saw at Artizia for $110…
I thought it could be cool as is, but just in case of Duggar, I’m looking into getting it shortened. Or I will just rock it, SO THERE.LOVE this Anthro-brand polka dot chambray dress for $3.50 from Goodwill!
And ANOTHER Anthro dress at a another Goodwill, also for $3.50!
When you catch the colour tag sale at Goodwill, you can score some great pieces – like this velvet dress for $3.50 hitting on another Fall trend!I finally found a jumpsuit that fits me – for $7 from Goodwill – just in time for the weather to turn.The unicorn of jumpsuits!Love this pretty $4.50 Kimchi Blue “dress” with pockets!And last but not least, this new-with-tags $10 Speedo. You see, I signed up for adult swimming lessons so that I actually GO, and when I tried on the bathing suit I thrifted last August for the swimming I never ended up doing, my daughter told me, and I quote, “Your back looks like a bum.” Parenting is not for the faint at heart. Anyway, this one, er, fits better.
What can I say, it was a prolific month!
