This week’s “Tuesday Try” was to wear black and nude together. An easy styling trick is to combine neutrals for a chic look – black and brown, black and grey, grey and brown, black and navy, grey and navy… you get the idea. But I could go on. Navy and olive. Olive and grey. Navy and brown. (I feel like I’m doing a combination and permutation math problem.) Nude is an often-overlooked neutral but I for one hunt for nude pieces every time I go thrifting. Though nude flats evade me, I found a Simply Vera Wang nude shell for $2.50 this summer while road-trip thrifting and gave it an outing today with some black basics…

Though I like mixing neutrals, I’m more of a colour girl so the nude/black combo was a nice change of pace (for a day anyway). As I was scrolling through Pinterest for black and nude outfits, I was indeed inspired by how a little touch of nude elevates an otherwise average outfit! (And I also learned how important it is to type “black and nude OUTFITS” before hitting enter. Eek.)

I got lots of compliments on my outfit today and people were surprised (still? okay) that everything was second-hand. Yes people, this outfit was $17.50 and no fast-fashion was involved in that low price! SO if you haven’t tried thrifting, stay tuned for next week’s Tuesday Try and do a little thrifting, then play along!
