Some people turn to gardening for rest and relaxation. Others knit or colour or – the one that puzzles me most – exercise (!). When I need some comfort, I like to go thrifting. Even if in a fictional scenario I don’t buy anything, I still find it calming especially when I go with good friends like I did last night! My friend Julie needed a fancy dress and a party dress and was about to get one from a consignment shop… Although beautiful, secondhand and cheaper than regular retail, I knew she needed to give VV Boutique a look before committing $150 to a consigned dress she will likely wear a couple of times. I assured Julie that I am the Dress Queen since I have xxx number of dresses and we set out along with our partner in action, Brenda. I didn’t snap a lot of shots because I was just having fun, just doing my version of self-care with no agenda except to be with favourite people in a favourite place doing a favourite thing.
There’s a first time for everything including finding Gucci shoes at VV Boutique! So tempted to buy these to wear to my foot surgery tomorrow and just see if the doc comments…:DThen Julie found Dolce & Gabbana shoes – so pretty but oh so uncomfortable! Well, at least you can say you wore $1000 shoes (or whatever redic price they would be regular retail)!I made Julie try on approximately 400 dresses including this one – you don’t need to sit down at your party do you?!Fine then, this navy cocktail dress might be a better choice. The back is perfectly drapey and open! Julie looked stunning! Elegant, comfortable and not another LBD! And it was $16This versatile dress will take Julie to her party, to any summer gatherings, to festivals, farmer’s markets – anything! And this lovely score – an Anthropologie dress that will be perfect for her upcoming weekend anniversary getaway! It was sooooo soft!I found an Anthro dress too but decided against it because I have XXX dresses already! “I love you too but we can’t be together right now…”However, I do NOT have a mustard jacket of perfection!! Eddie Bauer, in perfect condition for $10! #comfort #selfcare
So I found the mustard jacket and a pretty scarf you’ll see in a sec, Julie found 3 dresses for a fraction of what she was going to spend on one, and Brenda scored a beautiful Mexx floral dress! Success!
$4 scarf because fresh out.Oh heyyyy, I could do a half-tuck with this $4 red RW blouse! Denim skirt $2.50, Miz Mooz shoes $18.I was in quite a rush to get to what will be my last day of work for the year so no necklace but no matter because this top has a shoulder bow! #winningAnyway, I had on earrings and 4 bracelets and a scarf and they all count as accessorizing!
Sure, sure, it *might* have been the excellent company of my friends but I felt comforted indeed and my “new” scarf reminds me of them and the evening, so the comfort can live on! It can live right on into the pre-op room tomorrow when I’m finally rescheduled to have my foot surgery SO expect a little hiatus around these parts and do some comfort thrifting in the meantime!

I totally do comfort thrifting too.
It’s a form of therapy for me
So agree! Brings me joy to find that perfect treasure 🙂
Good luck today 🙂
That looks like a pretty successful shopping trip – relaxing plus pretty dresses! I love all of them! 🙂
