There’s 1.5 hours left of January as I write so it’s safe to say I finally stopped shopping. Maybe it was the extra Christmas gift of thrifting money from my family that whetted my appetite to exceed my budget this month, or maybe it was the two weeks of solo parenting or maybe it’s the fact that January is the half-way point in my thrifting year. In any case, I basically blew the budget this month HOWEVER I have a way to wrap my head around it. Hang in there with me… First up, let me share what I spent my “regular” budget on this month!

And the piece de resistance, the one I’ve been seeking for months, finally found on the 50% off sale day…

By now, if you have even remotely passable math skills, you know I’m in trouble!! I had a balance of $50.25 heading into January…
- Sandwich blouse $9.00
- Vintage yellow cardi $6.75
- Green tee $2.00
- Grey pants $4.50
- Elevenses pants $6.00
- Purple suede boots $8.50
- Olive scarf $3.00
- “Baroque” scarf $2.50
- Fossil bag $17.50
- TOTAL: $59.75 (oops I did it again) (offset a little with some leftover Christmas funds of $1.40)
- Balance… -$8.10
No prob. I will just apply that to February and adjust my budget accordingly!! I think we can agree I *needed* all those pieces!! (Insert big sheepish smiley)
Now then, the rest of the story… I earn a bit of money now and then from this thrifty adventure and I decided from the get-go that money should be reserved for any extras, not yet specified! For example, that’s the “pot” I used to buy the dress for the 40 Dress Campaign and my Red Pony purchases! This month, I had another unspecified need pop up in the form of a 2-hour break from 2-week-stint of solo parenting while my daughter went to a party right across from VV Boutique – what’s a girl to do?!!

Obviously I *NEEDED* every one of these pieces so I will just subtract another $44 from my Unspecified Extras Funds. (Insert even bigger sheepish smiley) Now to decide what to wear tomorrow!!
