Way back in the summer, I read about Fall trends and discovered lilac is one of the colours for Fall, according to Fashion.  Lilac, mauve, dusty violet, pinky-plum, light purple, lavender, radiant orchid – whatever you want to call it, please, let’s not do to this what we’ve done to burgundy/red wine/oxblood/Marsala!  When I issued the Tuesday Try to wear lilac, I was being general – anything in that colour realm counts!  Regardless of the name, one fact is certain: I have very little purple in my wardrobe.  With that in mind, I thrifted a lilac piece and finally gave it a wear…

Lilac for Fall?

I liked the baroque-y print of this top but couldn’t decide if it was stylish or Golden Girls, but my daughter, whose favourite colour is purple, insisted I get it.

Would you say no to this girl?

She happened to be wearing lilac today too - coincidence I swear!

I call these my "Melissa Pants" because one of my favourite colleagues wears skinny khakis like a pro all the time and I'm copying.

The top is quite pretty from the back, especially when the exposed zipper is actually done up. "Hey Mom, while I'm taking photos for you, let me alert you to the fact that you're not fully dressed." No?

Can't help but wear purple eyeshadow when I wear purple clothes. I get a ba case of MMS (Matchy Matchy Syndrome).

As it turns out, I am not very skilled at taking selfies of my eyelids.

I don't live in pretend Fall where we wear Fall clothes because they're cute. There's friggin frost on the ground and it snowed the other morning. This is the real deal and I *needed* a scarf this morning. Sigh.

I’m still on the fence about whether this piece sparks joy but I can’t tell if my uncertainty is because I’m not a purple-lover (though I like saying “purpley”), I’m not convinced lilac is a Fall colour, I’m not sure whether this top is cool or grandma-ish, or what.  However, I received the ultimate compliment today from a kindergarten girl: “I like your necklace…  I like your purple top…  I like your eye shadow.”  So now we’re best friends and I need to keep the top for at least one more outing with denim.
