There’s nothing quite like a little community thrift shop!  They are often run by volunteers, have an impressive selection of goods and great prices for the true thrift hunter!  Little shop thrifting is my favourite part of road trips!  Little thrift shops, however, are not necessarily little.  As I discovered on my recent trip to Washington and Oregon, some community thrift shops could give the large chain stores a run for their money (and probably do!).

But let me back up to give this “little” thrift shop a proper recounting.  We were driving along in Washington and saw this:

So my hubby pulled a quick u-turn (with the trailer)…

Seeing all this, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the Senior Services of Island County Community Thrift Store had a GONG at the till!  Needless to say, I could have spent all day long in this thrift shop!  Thrifter’s heaven!!

And it was here that I found a thrift score unlike anything I’ve ever found before…

J Brand denim retails for around $270!  And that my friends is why you should stop at all the little thrift shops!  Even if you don’t find a major score like this, there are still treasures to be found in little thrift shops.  Next stop…

Those are Voodoo Doughnuts from Portland, Oregon – or as my daughter called it, her “dolly doughnut.”  There were so many thrift stores in Oregon and I had so little time so I just walked to the nearest shop, a vintage clothing shop…

How could anyone walk by this store?!
And Mr. Style wanted that outfit.

Vintage pieces tend to be priced higher than traditional thrift, but even so, the prices in Magpie were reasonable and the selection was amazing!

This midi skirt was awesome, but the thing about vintage sizing is that they fit small. There was no Voodoo Doughnuts back then.

I’m sure there were a ton of little thrift shops in Portland and I was dying to explore more, but alas, it was a family vacation and so I could only ask so much!
