May was/is a weird month. I started it in a mad rush to wrap up work two months early for what I thought would be my surgery date on May 5th which, at the last minute, was postponed till the 19th. What this means thrift-wise is that I “prepared” twice to stop thrifting for a while and had some stress-relief thrifting after the first let-down AND was able to do some Mother’s Day Thrifting after all which I hadn’t been expecting. I think you can guess what’s coming… YES I spent more than my budgeted $50however my wonderful children gifted me with $25 thrifting cash for the big day so I broke even and scored some great pieces! Here’s my May thrift haul:
Jackpot brand coat/blazer, $5, in a subtle red stripe which I ADORE – a great alternative to a denim jacket!LOVE this gorgeous shade of red and the pretty shoulder button and bow! RW blouse for $4.I’m not normally a ruffle person but couldn’t resist this pretty navy sleeveless blouse for $3.50.I love this $4 lace white top – like an elevated tee, a “basic +” !This black Cleo tank can be worn on its own – no layering required! And for $1.50 at the Salvation Army 50% off Mother’s Day sale, it was a SCORE!I see this $4.90 sleeveless chambray as a summer staple to go with all my surgery-recovery skirts!I also see this $6.50 Lilla P dress with pockets as a surgery-recovery staple piece! (and my other foot can wear any shoe with it!)I felt like an Anthro model in this $7.50 white dress, half price at the Salvation Army sale! This may be meant for someone half my age but I don’t care. It’s a $9.10 chambray dress with pockets which meant it was coming home with me. The End.I’m obviously going to be taking a shoe-shopping break but I did pick up these somewhat fugly shoes thinking they may be good once the aircast comes off. I had a 30% off coupon and the $5 leather Rockports are adjustable and the $4 black spa sandals should be easy to slide on and off and have a great tread.I’ve always wanted a mustard coat of some kind and this $10 one is in perfect condition, an excellent brand known for its quality – Eddie Bauer – and just the right weight to wear in 3 seasons! I envision softening it up with a pretty scarf or pairing it with feminine pieces in pleasing contrast! Hey this $3 necklace would look good with that jacket!Little delicate earrings for a dollar a piece!Another thing I always keep an eye out for are small bracelets and totally lucked out on this big bunch of silver bangles for $2 that barely fit my small wrists and are PERFECT!I wrapped up the month with this pretty blush floral scarf for $4 – I couldn’t resist the colours!!
