If you’ve been around The Spirited Thrifter for a while, you know that I belong to a Splurge Sorority.  Before you start thinking I’m way too old for a sorority (you would be correct), let me explain.  The Splurge Sorority is a group of women that gathers every month or so, and each member contributes $40 each time and takes turns collecting the cash and splurging on something for herself!  Whoever splurged hosts the gathering to share all about her splurge!  I started the Splurge Sorority several years ago B.T. (Before Thrifting) when my youngest was an infant as a way to get together with my friends without needing to “go out” and to make sure that I didn’t lose myself in the blur of motherhood.  It is fun to spend a few hundred dollars on yourself, but the socializing is the true draw – otherwise you might as well just open a savings account!  There have been three rounds of Splurging – first was B.T. and I used my splurge money to buy new clothes including my beloved J Brand jeans.  I also hosted a mixology party and that is when I fell in love with fancy cocktails!  I used my second round of Splurge funds to buy Anthropologie bedding, which I enjoy to this day!  The third round kicked off with a “Favourite Things” party – so much fun!  I used my third Splurge for a little cosmetic dentistry – best money I ever spent!  The sorority gals have used their splurge for a variety of amazing things – everything from Frye boots to trips to maternity wardrobes to artwork to casbahs to exercise poles!  My favourite part of each Splurge gathering is the big reveal and the story behind each Splurge sister’s choice!  It is awesome!

Pinterest Potluck

The Sorority kicked off our fourth round of splurging on Friday night with a lovely Pinterest Potluck and wine exchange!  It was a great excuse to peruse our Pinterest boards and tackle something new.  If you weren’t jealous of this group already, you’re about to be when you see all the incredible dishes my sisters brought!

We concluded the evening with a little game of Spin the Bottle minus the kissing to determine which bottle would go home with which Splurge sister!

By the end of the game, Megan declared herself a "spin the bottle expert." That's what she said.

It was such a fun evening!  I can’t wait to see what each sister splurges on!  I usually share those antics on Instagram in case you want to follow along!  And I will share what I have in mind for my splurge later in August so stay tuned!
