Family Thrift Center is a Texas thrift institution. With the exception of a couple locations, they are only in Texas! They are renowned for excellent selection in their regular stores, and their outlet stores are *the* place to score amazing deals. My sis loves Family Thrift because of the plethora of plus-size options – which is not the norm for most secondhand stores. We hit up the outlet first on a sunny Friday then hit the regular store the following week. Here is the photo documentation chronicling our visits…
How nice of me to (inadvertently) match the sign.
The Family Thrift Outlet has a relatively small housewares section but I did manage to find a cushion that matched me. Too bad it was in rough condition! As it was, it just followed me in the store like a little duckling with its momma.
Next we hit the shoes. If you’re short on time, I suppose you could peruse the shoes and the clothing on the racks underneath at the same time. It’s not my preferred thrifting method though. I like to tackle one section at a time. Anyway, I hear multitasking is out. (Good luck with that, said every woman ever.)
I love unique shoes like this! Too bad they were a smidgen too small!
Marc Fisher for $1.75??! #iheartthrifting
These J Rennee’s were broken, sadly. Even if it’s cheap, it’s still money wasted if the fit or quality are poor.
For some reason, these navy flats made me feel very French!! I can’t remember why I decided not to get them…
I did get these leather metallic Easy Spirits! I wore them the other day and the verdict is still out on comfort but if I wear them again, the CPW will be under a dollar so I don’t mind the “risky” cost investment!
Came so close to getting these metallic wedge t-straps. I love being taller in theory. In reality, my feet can’t take a a heel for very long.
I DID get these Rieker leather ankle boots! They’re in perfect condition and fill a newly vacated hole in my wardrobe. I’ve already worn them several times! Total score!
We went on a Friday which meant every item was $1.75. The only reason I showed any restraint was because I AM TRYING TO BE REASONABLE. But in my head, I envisioned cute outfit possibilities for EVERYTHING I picked up including this butterfly print jacket.
Didn’t get this lace bomber jacket. WHYYYYY #thriftregret
DID get this olive light weight jacket! $1.75. I had to.
Didn’t get this jewel-toned blazer even though it looked perfect with my outfit. Because Houston. And trophy wife. No need.
DID get this mustard knit cardi. Because mustard cardi.
DID get these NYDJ royal purple jeans because they were $1.75 and I love the brand. We shall see how they turn up for #pinspiredMarch!
That was “it” for the outlet! Shannon scored some great pieces too! As for the regular store (not priced by day)…
Brand new shoes exactly like the ones she’s wearing for $1.75!
Pretty blouse in an awesome colour – and more but her negligent sister didn’t get photos!
That’s alotta pattern. Pass.
DID get this olive jumpsuit because it was $3.33. Worth a try! Super comfy too!
Did get this acid-wash-y looking denim skirt for $2.72. What can I say? I was having some nineties feelings!
Last but not least, I got these DV slides! They were in perfect condition and make for easy dressing in Houston, plus $5.45 for a Nordtrom Rack brand!
I had such a great time and have already worn most of these pieces. I always feel guilty if I wear something but don’t post it on Instagram. This is a weird side effect of being a thrift blogger for 7 years! Hope you’ll forgive me! Stay tuned though, especially because I’m about to hit Austin with one of my oldest friends! And I’m about to turn 45!!! One never knows what could happen!
