Something that intrigues me is the notion of “style personalities.”  I admire people who have a distinct style personality like my friend Haley with her casual classic aesthetic, or my friend Kim who has a romantic ruffle aesthetic, or my friend Randa whose artistic sensibilities are evident in every outfit, and my sister Shannon with her boho chic vibe.  As for me, well, at best you could call me eclectic meaning, I like everything (except cowls, as it turns out…and pants).  I decided to use Monday Style Prompts as an opportunity to explore different styles to see if I can nail down my own style personality ultimately to guide my thrifting and dressing decisions.  I believe that the more in tune you are with your style personality, the more comfortable you’ll be in your day-to-day life.  This week’s Monday Style Prompt put me square in a style I’m least comfortable in… classic.  I relied on Pinterest to help me out and ended up copying classic-style-personality-icon Cate

I know, I need to work on my smoldering eyes.  I’ll get right on that.  As for the outfit, well, though a white shirt is regarded as a fashion staple, it’s never my first inclination unless otherwise prompted by what seemed like a good idea on Friday night.

As classic as classic gets with a white top $3.50, black pants $5 and black pumps $14.

I must admit, this was an EASY outfit to put together.  Sometimes that’s exactly what you need after missing a day of work with a sick kid and therefore being terminally behind and it’s only Tuesday.  Good quality is especially important for the classic style personality; there’s nothing to distract the eye, it’s right there in black and white.  Literally.

I hunted fora long time before landing this new-condition white top.

Naturally, I couldn’t resist accessorizing my classic look but tried to keep it classic with silver pieces, the earrings hand-me-down from my sis and the necklace hand-me-down from my friend.

Initially, I felt rather uncomfortable in my classic outfit.  I was basically terrified of getting that bright white shirt dirty before leaving the house.

But once I made it out, made it work and managed to work without getting covered in paint or schmear, I started to relax and actually enjoy this look.  Don’t get me wrong, this will probably never by my style personality…

But I’m glad I tried and I’m glad I know how to put together a classic-personality style outfit should ever the need arise for me to wait tables … to be a famous Hollywood style icon who sits uncomfortably on chairs.  Stay tuned for next week’s Monday Style Prompt to explore another style personality!

Oh no, you don’t like cowls? We are in so much trouble tonight 😉

The fact that we’re shipping for spring and summer might avert a total catastrophe though. Maybe so blood will be spilt

I don’t like cowls ON ME. On you, they’re fine. As long as you also wear a necklace or two. Mwahahahahahaha
