Last weekend, friends hosted an amazing summer wine-tasting party! Great wine, great food, great conversation – the perfect summer evening! As I was getting ready to go, I decided to wear a recent thrift score: a new-with-tags Isabel Marant dress!!
My initial temptation was to save this dress for a special occasion, then I thought, “This party IS a special occasion! I love dresses! This dress cost me less than $10, it can go anywhere with me and make every occasion special!”
So I wore it.
I love this dress! The fit is tailored yet romantic, the silk is structured yet light and flowy – like linen but better – and the claret colour makes my heart beat a little faster!

I think true style comes from wearing what makes your heart sing, regardless of what others are wearing or what anyone else thinks! True style makes every occasion special! And this designer dress that retails for more than $500 made the summer party even better!

(*He’s keeping his internet name from back when this was VV Boutique Style!)Why yes I’ll have a homemade salmon-crepe-creation of deliciousness!Next up, rose!So pretty I had to take its picture twice!Our contribution for the evening was a lovely Larkmead that we’ve been saving since our anniversary Napa trip!Oh those artists are always photobombing.The party even had a special wine-cage-match! 2010 vs. 2011!The happiest line-up I ever did see.Now I know why I liked the colour of the dress so much!Concluding the evening with delicious dessert wine – I’ll drink you even though you don’t match my dress!
It was a spectacular evening! I’m so thankful for good friends and good wine!
