Thrifting is stress relief for me, whether or not I buy anything (er, I usually do). B.C. (Before Crutches), I would go thrifting two or three times a month depending on life. A.C. I hadn’t gone in a whole MONTH and was starting to go crazy and feel rather jealous of all my local peeps posting their thrifting adventures. CRUEL. Finally, on Monday, I met my sis for the perfect day date of coffee, chatting, and solving the world’s problems followed by a trip to Value Village… on wheels! I can get around a bit on the ol’ crutches but don’t have the stamina for a thrift trip so she wheeled me around in my borrowed wheelchair!
This was shortly before she almost dumped me out at the curb. First stop… bags! The wheels gave me an entirely new perspective. I’m an Occupational Therapist and thought I had a good understanding of what it’s like to use a wheelchair, but it’s entirely different when YOU are the user! I’m thankful that this is only temporary and props to the people who manage this all the time. R.E.S.P.E.C.T.Shannon found this gorgeous Holt’s leather bag! Love!I might have found a few options! We just kept piling them on! It wasn’t unpleasant to be covered in bags. 😛I scored this Marc Fisher vegan cross body and another vintage-inspired green bag!I also scored a Desigual clutch and thought, this would be perfect for my friend. When I walked up to her before revealing my thrift score, she said, hey I should have asked you to look for a clutch for me to go with my dress… AND BOOM! Some thrift finds are meant to be!Next stop… shoes. I get the irony.
*Of course* I found so many amazing pairs including these MIZ MOOZ!! My favourite!!! However, they were slightly big and I really have no idea whether I will be able to manage heels like this anytime soon so ultimately, I left them all behind. Not gonna lie, I almost cried. Bye Miz Mooz perfection. You’ll find a good home!!! SOB!Next we rolled past the coats and such. It’s interesting when you and your driver have different destinations in sight.Next we hit the dresses because fresh out. I stood up to try them on right then and there. Shannon told me this one was too short. I thought it would make a decent camping dress but I see now it’s not very flattering so FINE. But this one came home with me!! I don’t think I’ll take it camping though. Also scored this one – there was a stain on the bottom but it came right out with Sunlight bar soap! #FTW It’s not a jersey fabric so also not camping appropriate.Scored a pretty mauve-ish tank as I was wheeled by the tops!I had a little debate about vintage midi skirts. One was pleated, the other was metallic – both are on my thrift hunting list…How do you leave this behind?!!I liked that this skirt was metallic but also floral! Makes it trendy but still unique! And yes, I ended up getting both because they are completely different and I *needed* them.
At the till, a kind lady in front of me gave me her 30% off stamp card which made the day even sweeter! Thank you thank you, whoever you are!! Know your card went to good use! Thank you Shannon for wheeling me around and giving me the best post-op recovery boost! I needed that!
It was so fun! I think you failed to mention you were slightly misbehaving almost losing your arm a few times….

Thank you Shannon for taking your sister shopping! You are an amazing sister! What an incredible post! Thanks for sharing your finds, and what you bought, and what you left behind. Always educational, and inspiring. I have learned a lot from such posts, and I am becoming a much wiser shopper, and letting things stay behind for the next thirfty shopper to take home with them–even if I love it but don’t need it!
You are a blessing! I love your blog. Great to see you out and about, and able to get your thrifting therapy!
