Last night, the #thriftingsisterhood was alive and well at Goodwill!  Adina from Blue Collar Red Lipstick and I extended an invitation for y’all to join us for some thrifting fun at Goodwill for our new Tuesday Night Thrift adventures!

Adina *loves* it when I make us start with a fluorescent light selfie. ;)

Here’s how the night went down…

Just a few options to try on...
Just a few options to try on!  And if you think I had a lot…
I consider myself outdone by this guy.
This guy puts me to shame!!  (he wasn’t with us)

Starting with a big pile of no way Jose…

A fun pink silk skirt labelled as XL... No.
I’m always drawn to mustard and pink and this fun silk skirt was labelled as XL… No.
These camel stretch cords had potential but looked a little too fleshy for my taste. No.

This dress was a great colour and a flattering fit but was too short and no pockets. No.

This dress caught my eye because it is made by local Dressmaker! I almost took it home but decided it was too summery and I exercised restraint and now I'm sad. Noooooooo.

But it was a a little too vavavavoom for my preschool day job. No.

I did get them done up but the rise was about two inches above my crotch. So very bad. No.
I did get them done up but the two-inch rise resulted in a TRAY of muffin tops. So very bad. No.
I almost took these grey Not Your Daughter's pants home. They were an ankle crop - yes! - but a petite - so too short. No.

I found some other unmentionables – you never know until you try it on!!  Unless you’re Adina and have excellent pre-cart restraint, ruling out pieces that don’t fit your current aesthetic or colour scheme.  She barely bowed to my pressure to try on all the things I threw in her cart.  Sheesh.  I’m not deterred though!!  There will be another Tuesday Night Thrift and more sea-foam green velvet blazers, I’m sure.  Adina’s just lucky I got distracted by other friends…

My friend Kristen - fellow mustard scarf afficianado - came out and blew my mind with her thrifting approach!
My thrifty therapist friend and fellow mustard-lover Kristen came out and blew my mind with her thrifting approach!
My friend Kristen came out and blew my mind with her thrifting approach! She doesn't use a cart but gathers until she can't hold anymore, then goes to the fitting room for a quick sesh, then goes out again and looks some more, and back to the fitting room, and so on. I feel this is a brilliant way to exercise thrifting self-control! However, I'm not going to do it! :D

My thrifty almost-Occupational-Therapist friend and oft-featured Chantel also came out!! Just in time to talk me out of this hat.

Truthfully, I prefer my tequila in a classic margarita. So I didn't get the hat.
I prefer my tequila in a classic margarita, so the hat is inaccurate, which is too bad since it’s “so me.”
Can't wait to work together, Chantel!! Congrats!!

Now let’s talk about what I DID get!

Aritzia brand Talula black blazer for $7!!

Alice in Wonderland sweater and Sacha London leather slingbacks for $2.50!! (Don't tell my physiotherapist)
Alice in Wonderland Disney sweater for $7 that Adina generously passed on to me and that WILL be perfect for preschool, and perfectly-coordinating Sacha London leather slingbacks for $2.50!! (Don’t tell my physiotherapist)

Annnndddd, then there’s the Banana Republic grey Merino wool cardi that I accidentally stole!!!

I blame Kristen, Chantel and Adina!! Adina handed it to me on our way out, I tried it on in the aisle and liked it, then we got to chatting, then I put on my coat, paid for my purchases and left. Only when I went to change into my pajamas later that evening did I realize what I had done!!! Of course, I went back today and paid for it and the lady was so happy with my honesty, she gave me 10% off!! Goodwill, you're full of goodwill! You don't need to thank me for not stealing!!

Adina found several awesome pieces including not one but TWO pairs of JBrand perfection!!!  She deserved them, actually, because she passed on a pair of grey Jbrands to me!  THANK YOU!!! xoxoxoxo The #thriftingsisterhood is real and it is AWESOME!  It also led me to believe she found me a mint condition Rebecca Taylor top – I opened the fitting room door and she came towards me with hanger in hand saying, “Look what I found!!!”  So I held out my hand to take it, thinking she found it for me.  Adina, thinking I was congratulating her, reached out and shook my hand!  I’m just about peeing my pants laughing thinking about it!  So so funny!  So funny, in fact, that I made her do a re-enactment:

FINE, I admit the XS Rebecca Taylor top was not for me!
FINE, I admit the XS Rebecca Taylor top was not for me.  Every time you wear it, Adina, remember this moment and smile!

So our adventure included tequila, Talula and Taylor with a side of Sacha and (accidental and amended) stealing!  Doesn’t that make you want to come to the next Tuesday Night Thrift?!!!
