As you travel, keep your eye out for the little local thrift shop! There are usually interesting things and interesting characters to be found! IMHO this is way more fun than shopping big box stores or malls. I did some big thrift shopping in Kelowna and stopped in a couplelittle thrift stores before hitting the wine beach. But that did not conclude my vacation thrifting, no sirree!
We stopped into this little thrift store on the way home from Kangaroo Creek Farm. Tried on this Esprit leopard print dress but my hubby gave it the thumbs down with some sort of “cougar” remark. It’s leopard-print, Hon, not cougar… wait…I have been looking for an Anthro-esque floral tee and thought this one might work but ended up not liking the saying – all it made me do was think about yesterday!! Graphic tee fail.
It was a very quick stop as we had water slides to get to and though I didn’t find anything, my kids, *of course* found a stuffie each. (We came home with 150% more than what we left with!) Homeward bound, we stopped in Revelstoke where we found (and I didn’t photograph, WHAT) a wonderful used book store while waiting for the thrift store to open at 1pm…
Those ladies took a seat to wait and provided commentary for all passers-by.In fact, there was quite a line-up by the time 1pm rolled around. My son put this baseball helmet in a secure place till we could pay for it!And my daughter was so happy with her mountain-biking helmet that she insisted on wearing it in the truck AND to bed. #OTdreamcometrueAs for me, again, it was a quick stop but I scored this Ann Taylor dress for $2!! You can’t beat that! I HEART LITTLE THRIFT!
Next stop on our journey home was Mara Lake. Now, I hear there are some good nearby thrift stores but my mean husband insisted we do things like play on the beach, go tubing, explore petroglyphs and the like. I got my fix here:
Community book exchange! I LOVE these! Especially when they’re painted in bright colours!
Next stop was back in Alberta – Airdrie where in addition to the Clampetts going to the pool for a swim and shower at long last, we needed to find a Bible for my son to take to camp the next day!

This was a tiny little Goodwill but sure enough, we found a Bible and a few other things!
My daughter found some dresses all on her own and fell in love with them as soon as she tried them on!
I love that she did not wait to wear these. As soon as we got home and I washed them, she wore them. I like your attitude, Girl! Don’t wait for a special day to wear a special dress – make the day special by wearing things you love!
As for me, this blazer was 50% off for the colour tag sale but I decided it was too Minnie Mouse.And I liked this tiered denim skirt, also 50% off, until I saw it from the side…!!!!! I hope you laugh at this because I sure did.I did score this pretty beaded top for $2.50.And this $7 Roots sweater – this is just begging for the next camping trip!And this bracelet for $3 which appealed to me and fit my small wrist – the only part of my body not affected by 7 weeks of cast and 2 weeks of vacay.

tried your tip about shopping for shoes first when thrifting last week
when I went to Value Village. Such a good idea. Why didn’t I think of
that myself? I grabbed a bunch of shoes and wore them while trying on
the clothes I had picked out. It gave me a good idea as to if the shoes
would work with the outfits I planned on wearing them with, and also
eliminated a few that I might have bought. Genius.
