In case you haven’t heard, I love chambray. I love chambray shirts, chambray dresses and I always scour for other chambray pieces when thrifting. Chambray can be worn a million ways yet some of us still don’t embrace Chambray’s full style power. This madness needs to end and it needs to end now! Wear your chambray. Here’s a few ideas according to style personalities, in case that helps motivate and renew your chambray love.
BOHO CHAMBRAY
I’m starting with the Boho Style Personality because it is the least likely, according to my opinion scientific research, to readily wear chambray. But there are plenty of options to keep a boho vibe while wearing your chambray…
Layered with something knitted and fringe-y and earthy looking footwear.Same idea, different look! A kimono would also work with this look.Open over a printed dress – short or long – with a slouchy bag and your favourite accessories.With a short or long boho-y skirt; tucked, knotted or open; with or without a belt and some big boho earrings.Another version of the same outfit idea.

CLASSIC CHAMBRAY
The Classic Style Personality may wonder if chambray is classy enough for her wardrobe. Let me reassure you, it is!
Just swap in a crisp chambray whenever you would wear a classic white button-up shirt! Keep other pieces classic to avoid slipping into other style territories.Chambray with a suit or tailored separates adds a hip vibe.Dark chambray tucked into a classic pencil skirt with pumps.Chambray with classic black pants is always a win.

PREPPY CHAMBRAY
Preppy style is defined by pastels, monograms and, more recently, sparkly necklaces with sweaters and collared shirts. J Crew is the epitome of preppy and though I would never claim to be a “prep” (at least since grade 7), I don’t mind a preppy chambray look!
Is it my imagination or is this the same person? Looks like an easy summer look to me! If I EVER find a Polo chambray, I will buy it just so I can finally fit in (in 1987 but who’s counting)Chambray under a sweater is an iconic preppy look! One question though: how is she not boiling?
Preppy can be colourful but it leans more towards whites, neutrals and pastels. Everything is crisp, clean and J Crew! Here’s my attempt at chambray prep…
