Bohemian style” inspires images of gypsies and hippies, flowing wavy hair, lovely relaxed layers… I swear I also hear tinkling bells and smell wildflowers on the (non-existent) breeze!  Yet, as I review my outfit photos from yesterday, all I can think is “YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE BOHO” (that’s a Tom Cruise reference in case you can’t read my mind).  Nope, boho ain’t my thing but it was fun to try yesterday!

Flowing dress? Check. Denim piece? Check. Jingly accessories? Check. Leather sandals? Check. Braided hair? Check. Boho girl? Ermmmmm...

Though boho style isn’t a good fit for me, I received many compliments on Monday!  Upon further reflection, they were all from people with boho style…

"I'm taking this vest off ASAP."
“I’m taking this vest off ASAP.”

In fact, I did ditch the vest…

A friend pointed out that boho style looks good on everyone, and I think she’s right.  You can’t go wrong with the folksy prints, layers and overall relaxed vibe.  Who doesn’t want to be relaxed and comfortable?!!  Well, maybe that’s why Boho didn’t fit me – I’m not relaxed and comfortable at the moment!  I’m sick, post-whiplash, solo-parenting and in report season.  Time to take a cue from my clothes, methinks!

Butterflies are free!!! Lalalala. So am I!! Whee! I need a swing and some long grass... that I'm allergic to. Wait...

It’s impossible to miss the boho influence in the fashion world.  Anthropologie, my fave retail influence (ironically??) is full of airy kimono layers and that effortlessly chic laid-back vibe.  You can find boho style pieces almost everywhere, and of course, thrifting for boho pieces is a guaranteed win!

Oh yeah, just adding my fringe-y scarf to be even MORE boho.... actually, I was cold.

As I was braiding my hair in the morning, my daughter asked, “Are you going as an elf?”  That my friends is a Hobbit reference.  Uhhhhh…. I guess so, to my costume party (??) otherwise known as work??

I won’t rule out this style personality* but I would never claim Boho Style as my dominant style personality.  Thus, the style personality exploration shall continue next Monday Style Prompt!  One of these weeks, I’ll nail it!

(* I might want to go to a festival or frolic in wildflowers or be too fat for my pants or go thrifting… :D)

I really don’t mind this dress on you, Nicole.   Maybe could be a bit brighter, and I think that would have made a big difference for you, definitely prefer the photo without the vest though.  I think it was a success for this particular Style Prompt!
