So far my 10-Item Wardrobe is going fairly smoothly and though it is an adjustment to stick to one small section of my closet, it is pushing me to spice up my basics like I did today for the Monday Style Prompt: white tee with layered necklaces.  Most of us have some kind of plain tee kicking around – even if it’s not white, You Know Who You Are – and most of us have a few necklaces kicking around – even if you don’t usually wear more than one at a time, You Know Who You Are.  Today was about throwing them all on together for simple effortless chic

Danier leather jacket $14, white tee from my closet, leaf necklace from my closet, charm necklace vintage Accessorize and blue tassel pendant She Does Create.

My tips for layering necklaces are as follows:

  1. Stagger the lengths so they don’t compete too much.
  2. Mixing metals/beads/styles is okay.
  3. Each piece should have its own interesting details.
  4. Aim for a unifying element or vibe.
  5. Keep your other accessories understated. Or not.  More is more after all.
Plain white tee with layered necklaces!
My unifying element amongst my layered necklaces, bracelets, earrings and belt buckle is antique brass metal.  But it’s awfully matchy-matchy and not necessarily necessary.
The whole look with me and the camera-hog.
Me and the camera-hog.  Blue suede pumps $5.50, JBrand denim from my closet.  Can I just say that the “half tuck” is harder than it looks?  I’m not convinced I did it properly but I’m not sure whether to blame tucking inability, the tee-shirt itself or post-Easter muffin top…
I wanted to highlight my newest She Does Create piece - the blue tassel necklace. I ADORE it!

I might just wear my blue tassel pendant again tomorrow and layer it with something totally different.

River knows good accessories when she sees them and isn't about to give up the photo op without a fight.
I think she just wanted to admire the layered necklaces… and I needed something to distract from the background “hosery.”  #reallifestyle
Anyone up for "Layered Necklace Week?"
Hearts, feathers, tassels, pretty beads – what’s not to love about this look?!!

I love this look so much I almost thrifted another plain tee today just to have an excuse to play around some more with layered accessories…  Then I remembered my 10-Item April and decided against it… but I did thrift a cool necklace!!  Who’s up for “Layered Necklace Week?”!!!

I do know who I am. And all I have to say about this is that I like the jacket very much. Oh, and good for you for sticking to your minimalist wardrobe instead of buying anything more. That is all.
