1. If you are married, don’t get a boyfriend so that you can steal his jeans.
  2. “Boyfriend jeans” usually refers to a loose comfortable fit HOWEVER for many of us, our man’s jeans don’t fit loosely so  I hereby object to the term.  Duly noted?  Okay then.
  3. Whether or not you need a boyfriend, you really do need at least one pair of “boyfriend jeans” in your wardrobe because they are super versatile.  Keep reading.

Now that we got that out of the way…  Back in “Ways to Wear It” February, people expressed interest in styling tips for boyfriend jeans so I turned to Pinterest, like I usually do, and now we have a Pinspired March/Ways to Wear It mash-up…

WITH A BLOUSE

My *one* pair of $9 “boyfriend” jeans happen to be distressed (by moi) but not all are.  Regardless, pairing boyfriend jeans with a pretty blouse of some sort is an easy styling trick of mixing casual with fancy.  The contrast just works and makes for a chic outfit.

I know, you can hardly tell which one of us is the Anthropologie model, right?
I know, you can hardly tell which one of us is the Anthropologie model, right?  Blouse gifted but thrifted by my awesome sis who’s always looking out for my thrifting needs, and Aerosoles leather shoes $2.50 plus She Does Create accessories.

WITH A BLAZER

By the same style principle, wearing boyfriend jeans with a blazer is a sure bet!  Wear them with a blouse, graphic tee or plain old tee – and don’t forget accessories (even if all the pins are sorely lacking in accessories)!

Accessories are a great way to bring in a pop of colour!
Accessories are a great way to bring in a pop of colour!  Mexx striped top $7, black blazer $7, pink belt $4, Aldo black leather pumps $14, necklace $1.50 plus glasses that I NEED vs. the model’s photo-op glasses. (and BTW you don’t need glasses, that pinned photo is just blurry)

Here’s another version of the same look, this time with a NAVY striped SWEATER – totally different!

No matter how hard I try, I'll never be a cute petite.
No matter how hard I try, I’ll never be a cute petite girl…  on the plus side, I can eat and drink like a trucker.  Another plus, without this pin, I wouldn’t have thought to wear a blazer OVER a sweater.  DUH.  That’s all I can say.  Duh.  J Crew wool navy striped sweater $7, Talula navy blazer gifted but thrifted and black lace up boots AKA the closes thing I have to Oxfords.

CASUAL COMFORT

Obv you can wear a simple sweater or tee with any boyfriend jeans!  And then sit around on the floor like me and my fun friend!

IF you leave the house in your casual comfy outfit, take a moment to "finish" your look by doing your hair or makeup, or putting on some accessories.
IF you leave the house in your casual comfy outfit, take a moment to “finish” your look by doing your hair or makeup, or putting on some accessories – that’s the defining line between “I meant this” and “I had no time.”
Another example, in HER case, dress up your jeans with white pumps, a crop top and no bra; in MY case, nude pumps, graphic tee and ALWAYS A DAMN BRA.

I could go on and on and on with the boyfriend jeans outfit copies, but I was pushing my luck at this point and running out of hockey cards to pay my photographer.  These are “basic” outfits but could in fact become a stylish personal “uniform” – easy outfit parameters within which you vary the details.  OR just remember to mix some kind of “fancy” finishing element with your boyfriend jeans and you should be good to go!  Yes, lipstick counts!  Here are a few other ways I’ve worn my boyfriend jeans!

Distressed boyfriend jeans $9, grey wool blend boyfriend cardi $2.50, Hispanitas flats $3 plus She Does Create earrings and build-your-own pendant.

DIY distressed denim $9, Hispanitas shoes $3 plus accessories from my collection.

Loved the yellow pants but also wanted to try it with my comfy boyfriend denim!

Which boyfriend jeans look is your fave?

I love the blazers and stripes!  Again, I appreciate your sense of humour in copying the models…but mostly thank you for all the time and work you put into compiling a post like this.  Great inspiration!
