It’s that special time of the month when I confess how much I overspent share my purchases. February is a short month but that didn’t mean I spent less. Oh no sirree. In fact, it was another double thrift haul month – for a good reason! My birthday is in February so today I will share my “regular” thrift haul as well as my birthday haul WHICH DOESN’T COUNT SO THERE. My monthly thrifted budget* is $50, but since I went significantly over last month (insert sheephish emoji), I started February with a balance of $41.90 and here’s how it went downhill broke down…
*#badatbudgeting

That’s “it!” Ten items taking me right to my budget…
- Yellow tee $4
- Cobalt heart print top $9
- Christian Dior vintage suit $8
- Cobalt leather belt $3
- Green leather belt $5.60
- Pastels scarf $4
- Earrings $2
- Black cuff $2
- Aerosoles leather shoes $2.50
- Black necklace $0.50
- TOTAL: $40.60
- Balance: $1.30!!! (not in the red… yet)
If this was the end of the story, it wouldn’t be so bad. BUT I had $50 of birthday thrifting money (thanks Hon, thanks Sis!) and then I had amazing thrifting luck and the 20% birthday discount, so I couldn’t possibly leave any of the following items behind, I’m sure you can understand, so I slightly exceeded my gifted funds. Oops.

I know, I really gifted myself for my birthday but, in my defense, I was looking for a white t-shirt (!) and ended up finding quality pieces worth hundreds of dollars that spark joy and will have some longevity in my closet which makes it good decision-making, for realz. I have a bit of a contingency fund of earned money for occasions such as these… and, er, solo parenting shopping… and er, Plato’s closet shopping… the point is, that well hasn’t run dry yet so it’s all good… though I may have to start running home at lunch to put on a new outfit like a thrifting diva!
