Let me start by saying, I don’t consider myself sporty. I don’t exercise play sports unless you count thrifting and if I had extra time, I would probably choose almost anything but sports. Since I believe style is a reflection of your inner self, I was pretty skeptical I could pull off the Sporty Style Personality. I did some Pinterest research and came to the conclusion that almost any outfit could be considered sporty if you include a sweatshirt and/or sneakers. Lucky for me, sweatshirts have been trendy for some time and stylish runners are seen on fashionistas everywhere. (Which bugs me BTW. Suddenly models and actresses declare good footwear stylish so now it’s “okay” to wear them?? YOU actually joined the Birkenstock club ladies, not started it. I digress.)

You CAN thrift second-hand running shoes of all kinds. Just like anything else second-hand, there is not necessarily anything wrong with them and they’re not necessarily worn out.

I must confess that the runners, the comfy outfit, the coordinating basketball did make me feel sporty! I should clarify though that oversized schleppy sweatshirts won’t do! Choose interesting pieces that fit well (and leave the matching sport balls to the “experts” HA), add simple accessories and comfortable foot wear and voila! Sporty Spice you!

Maybe one day, I’ll find my inner sporty self and take up a sport for real. Meanwhile, the Sporty Style Personality does not define me, but I think these sporty pieces will be perfect for keeping up with my kids and enjoying my real life style.
