Well, despite one day of accidentally over-doing it and bragging all over social media then paying for it, I think I’m officially past the stay-in-jammies-all-day stage of post-op bunion surgery recovery. Sure it takes a little longer than usual to get ready, but for the past three days I’ve had “events” and have found ways to style around my cast, crutches and even a wheelchair and I have photo evidence to prove it!
Event 1 – Book Club
(Okay, these aren’t, er, major, events but at this stage anything that requires me to get out of the house counts, so there.)
Everly tomato skirt $4.90, lace top $4, necklace $3 and one Miz Mooz shoe… er, $13.30 divided by 2.Skirts and dresses are the natural air-cast choice! (Thank God it’s Spring!)Big necklace to draw the eye up and away from said cast or as I call it, my Transformer foot.Apologies to my book club sisters that I inadvertently flashed. I will wear a longer skirt next time!
Event 2 – Dance Performance Numero Uno
My daughter’s final dance performance was on Saturday and since I was worried about walking too far on crutches and having my foot down too long, I rented a wheelchair from local Home Care and gained an entirely new perspective.
For starters, I wore a longer skirt to avoid flashing the entire local community. Vintage skirt $3.50, Marc Art of Walking flat(s) $19, necklace $8, plus earrings, tee and cardi – handmedowns from my big sis who knows what I need before I do, and bracelets by She Does Create and Just One.Pockets are always a good idea! I will always love this skirt.Sparkly jewelry is always a good idea! (even when you’re just sitting around in bed with your foot up waiting to go!)Perfectly comfortable outfit to watch the star of the show (in my eyes!).
Event 3 – Dance Performance Two
My son’s final dance performance was Sunday at the Jubilee and again, I took my wheels and made extra sure I wouldn’t flash the even-bigger community when elevating my leg by wearing the only pants-option I have right now…
