When a girl has her heart set on going to TWO thrift stores and one of them falls through, the only logical thing to do is to find another one ASAP to soothe a disappointed spirit. In fact, thrifting is good therapy in most situations IMHO but I digress. What I’m trying to say is that my disappointment in MCC Thrift was reappointed with a good discovery of a sizable “little” thrift store in Leduc, 2nd Glance Thrift Shop.
I work regularly in Leduc and go to church in Leduc, and stop in the Salvation Army Thrift Store whenever I have a chance but had never gone to 2nd Glance. My friend Joyce told me about it and shared some shopping tales with me, so I was expecting a cute little shop – little as in size.
2nd Glance does not do returns or exchanges. All sales are final but they have a space for you to check games and quality before purchasing. I can understand this policy, and the prices were low to fair so there would be little to lose if things didn’t work out.
2nd Glance reminded me of a carpeted Value Village, but a little more thrift-shop-y. They had furniture, bedding, fabric, baby gear, kids’ clothing…
I found a few things to try on…
There is A LOT of stock in 2nd Glance. I would say most of it was average quality, average labels but I didn’t have a ton of time to thoroughly dig. Dresses were $5.25 to $12 for new or higher-end labels and most other prices seemed low to fair.
They have the most interesting way of pricing books, which I misunderstood at first…
I would go back to 2nd Glance to browse the books alone! I love owning books but hate paying full price, even full VV Boutique price. This discovery was worth the trip to Leduc! 2nd Glance is run by employees and volunteers. They have a minimum $5 purchase for using debit or credit cards and a frequent buyer card. You get a stamp/circle per visit with a minimum $5 purchase and after 10 circles you get $10 of shopping!
2nd Glance proceeds support various local organizations…
2nd Glance is a good option for donations and secondhand shopping! I might even challenge my book club to see who can get the most books for $5! There were no vignette displays or interesting encounters (!), but all in all, it was a good little thrift shop worth the drive to Leduc. Find my Yelp review here and add your own if you venture out!
